My First Post – A $50 Value!

I’m so glad you’re here. Thank you for clicking through all my pages and reading the various ways I can brag about my writing skills. I hope the stellar grammar and quick wit distract you from the fact that I am NOT a web designer.

Due to unfortunate events and other things that suck, I’ve had to do my website myself. I know there are lots of things wrong with it—blank gaps and spaces, not enough pictures (especially of me *bats eyelashes*), but I’ve exhausted my knowledge of web design as well as my bank account. So until I’m rich, or until I stumble upon some philanthropic web designer, I hope I can charm you with the aforementioned grammar and wit.

Seriously, I’ve been dealing with this thing for almost two years now.

Enough about my calamities. I am so excited to finally be sharing this part of my life with someone other than my husband and my two friends. So excited, in fact, that I’m feeling a little philanthropic myself.

I’m about to do my first giveaway, but I need something in return. Wait, does that eliminate the philanthropic aspect of it? Am I just being manipulative now?

Let me distract you with a $50 Amazon gift card!

To enter, you have to do a couple things. The first is to leave a comment and tell me what sorts of things you’d like to read on my blog. The second is to go follow me on the things—most importantly, Twitter! I’ve had an account since 2009 but I never used it, so I have an embarrassingly low amount of followers and just go fix it.

Once I get fifty new followers, someone will be $50 richer. Heck, get me more and maybe I’ll throw in another one. I’m new at this, so take advantage of my manipulative philanthropy. Just click on the heart icon in the upper right-hand corner for all my cyber real estate. Especially Twitter!

And, you guys? Thank you. From the bottom of my heart.

  1. This is so freaking exciting!!!!! I can’t wait to read your blog posts and even more excited to read your books so hurry up! Congrats! Oh and I’m not website guru but I like your site. For not knowing a lot about it I say you did a fantastic job! ❤️

    1. Thank you, Honey! I’m super pumped too! I’m certainly no website guru – I just found out that people can’t see the blog post from their phones. So now I gotta figure out what’s wrong with that. Ugh.

  2. I only know of you because as a PLN we are required to behave like Fig lol! I’m on an iPhone and could see your post! Best wishes with your blog! I love witty people and look forward to following your journey. Keep writing about your experiences as a writer. I am fascinated by the process.

    1. LOL! Ok, thanks for letting me know about the phone! For some reason, it was acting funky but I think it’s fine now. And! Bonus points to you for getting figgy with it! LOL! Thank you so much – seriously. <3

  3. I, too, found you through the PLN group, but I stayed for the humor.

I’d love to know any basic advice you have for writers. What are common mistakes to avoid? What are best practices?

As a book blogger, I’d also love to know what you think makes a helpful review.

    Congratulations on the site!

    1. This is awesome! Thanks! I will do posts on all of your requests. I mean, obviously not now. Or even all at once. I’ll strategically space them out. LOL! And seriously – thank you for your support. <3

  4. HI Traci,

I just sent you a contact form with some questions! Love the site. Love your words and courage for stepping out! I look forward to reading your posts and getting to know your through the cyber world.

  5. I would love to see more of your wit! I will pretty much read any kind of topic if it is written well and shows a funny or witty personality . I am about to fall asleep so I’ve been skimming everything because my eyes won’t stay open but I read this whole post and lol a couple times . Can’t wait to see what you have in store 😀

Following on Twitter and I’ll look for your other social medias in the morning because I’m a about to pass out

    1. LOL! I would NEVER purposely keep anyone from the paradise that is sleeping. 🙂 So thank you for sacrificing that for me. Also, thanks for the advice on topics as well as the follows. You are officially entered into the first of many giveaways! 🙂

      1. I came back to follow you on Instagram . And you described sleep perfectly. It really is a paradise

        1. You know what? I like you, Azalea. You view sleep as something sacred like I do, and I can definitely get on board with that.

          1. I feel the same. I love your writing . Just yesterday I read the whole post on writing a blurb and you have me thinking about writing a blurb without having even written a book ?.

  6. Gabriela Valdes

Well I know you from way back, but life gets busy. With three children and a husband that I should count as the fourth child I only have time for their needs. I was excited to see you blog because you are truly the only person who’s instagram posts I read, I love the honesty and humor in everything you write. The boys are huge, Vicky still blushes everytime I tell her that she asked your son Robby to marry her and Andrew said he will marry her instead. Well looking forward to some mommy humor!!!

    1. Hey, Gaby!!! How are you, my old friend? We had some good times. I can’t believe how big the kids are getting! Anyway, glad we can reconnect on here, and thanks for the compliments! I hope you enjoy what you read, and hopefully we’ll see each other sooner rather than later.

  7. Congrats to you! I love seeing people’s reviews and thoughts. Can’t wait to read more!! ❤️❤️

  8. Hi,

I’m a new mom and juggling things at home and work is becoming stressful sometimes. Well, I work at home but chores can be really overwhelming. On top of that, there’s a lot on my wishlist and I am not sure where to start. Im just 25 and I do all sorts of things like read a book, create a blog, go back to studying in between of taking care of my 8-month old son! At the same time, I do not want to miss out on his growth and milestones. It’s a lot to handle!! But I am happy. ?

    1. Hi Judith! I work from home too, so I understand how things can become stressful and monotonous. Well, hopefully we can keep each other’s spirits up with blogs and books and writing and all these fun things. And congratulations on your baby boy! I have two boys, and I know I’m biased, but I have to say boys are the best. Thank you for reaching out, and enjoy!

      1. Thanks, too. Yup, I read one of your posts about letting your boys watch Never Ending Story. I also intend to do the same! Haha. Hope you have a daily dose of coffee or wine when things get stressful! Cant wait to read your blogs!!

  9. So excited for you Traci! I’d love to read more about your journey as a writing. Thanks for sharing your talents with the world.

  10. I also found you through the PLN group. Congrats on the new website. I’d love to see what you’re writing, what you’re reading. Good luck! I just followed you on twitter. So you have one more follower.

    1. Awesome, thank you! I’m excited to share everything with you guys. Thank you for your kind words. 🙂

  11. Melissa Carpenter

Yay!!! I love that you are moving forward with this!! Super proud of my old roomie and can’t wait to watch these books knock the socks off of everyone who gets to read them!

    1. Hiiiii Roomie! Thank you so much! You’ve always been so supportive from day one. And that means the world to me. I love you! Xoxo

  12. Hi Traci!
You have my support and interest 🙂 I look forward to your posts. I’d love to see tips on plot design for mysteries.

    1. Hi, Rowena! Thank you so much for your support. 🙂 I just took one of Joyce’s classes on plotting mysteries and thrillers, so I’m happy to share! 🙂

  13. Initially, when I first met you, I thought you were a strong, sexy and hilariously sarcastic bitch. I was completely unaware of how much talent you had hidden under your belt. You, on the other hand, thought that I wasn’t “the reading type.” So much for not judging a book by its cover–we be straight judgin’
Can’t wait to read your books!!!

    1. Lies. All lies. You’ve always been a filthy liar. I love you, you little turd! You can read them whenever you want! <3

  14. I am so excited to read more of your blog ? I would love to read more about your writing! Writing tips, what you are reading, honestly anything you write, I’ll read it haha. Who are some of your favorite authors? Where do you find your inspiration when you are writing? Stuff like that always interests me. ?

  15. So I am late to the game but hey!!! I would love to know what you are reading… What your thoughts are on writing, whatever you have to say!
